Fish Available at Petsway
Have you ever heard that goldfish have a three-second memory? In fact, goldfish aren’t as forgetful as some people claim. A goldfish’s memory can stretch back as far as three months! Classic American pets, goldfish make great pets for children and adults alike. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they’re a great option for beginners because they can often be kept in unheated aquariums (they prefer a water temperature between 62 and 74 degrees Fahrenheit). Plus, goldfish are available at all PetsWay locations.
Although tropical fish are available at all PetsWay locations as well, you will need to stop by a store (or give us a call) to learn about the specific varieties currently available for purchase. These freshwater fish make a great addition to any aquarium. In fact, some species will even react when their owner walks into the room! Some species are only recommended for experienced fish owners, so be sure to research your selected species before you bring it home.
Saltwater fish often boast bright colors and unique personalities. Some of these fish don’t play well with others, so make sure that you ask which species can coexist before you populate a tank with a community of fish. Typically, saltwater fish are not recommended for beginners because they have a very narrow range of tolerance when it comes to their water conditions (including pH level, salinity, and temperature). If you neglect filter maintenance and water changes, your fish will suffer and may not survive. Although they require a little more work than the standard goldfish, many pet owners find they’re well worth the effort. Saltwater fish are only available at the PetsWay location in Poplar Bluff.
If you own a saltwater aquarium, you can’t go wrong with coral. Although they look like plants, corals are actually living animals that can interact with your pet fish. Each coral contains thousands of tiny invertebrates known as polyps. Corals vary in their water, lighting, and food requirements. In addition, some corals can be aggressive with other corals, so it’s important to research the behavior of corals before mixing species. We offer a variety of beautiful shapes and colors of coral at the PetsWay location in Poplar Bluff.
Although aquariums offer a relatively simple, low-maintenance form of pet ownership, don’t underestimate the responsibility required to care for fish. You will need to research your chosen fish, find the right equipment, and provide the care and commitment they need. Luckily, PetsWay is here to help! Stop by your local Petsway today to get started.
